As early as 2007, developers from the Joint Research Center of the European Commission joined forces to launch GEXCEL - the birth of JRC 3D Reconstructor!
The declared aim was to significantly improve the precision and efficiency in the processing and analysis of 3D laser scan data as well as in photogrammetry. This objective has been met excellently, GEXCEL is today a valued partner of leading manufacturers of laser scanners such as Riegl, Faro, Z + F, Topcon, Trimple, DotProduct, Velodyne, Stonex, Teledyne-Optech, Siteco and with JRC 3D Reconstructor able processing terrestrial, mobile or aerial data. One of the key developments to simplify laser scanning today is the automatic registration of laser scans without targets. With the help of the so-called "cloud to cloud" registration, surveying on site has become far more efficient and GEXCEL is proud to say that with "LineUp® Pro" you have one of the best known products on the market.
2016 started a new era! - Working closely with the Joint Research Center of the European Commission, GEXCEL has evolved from being a pure software developer to becoming a product developer and a solution provider for mobile mapping! HERON® wearable mobile mapping benefits from over 10 years of experience in laser scan data processing and knowledge of user needs! One of the biggest difficulties in the past has been to compensate for drift along the path of the survey in mobile scanning - GEXCEL has solved this problem with a patented algorithm, whose surveying results lead the market in terms of precision and efficiency.
Strategic partnerships with excellent software vendors, almost unlimited compatibility with leading global software products such as AutoCAD® or Revit® and the expansion of the hardware solutions portfolio round off GEXCEL's portfolio of holistic and process-optimized solutions for its customers. In September 2018, GEXCEL has appointed DUCTIM-X GmbH as an authorized dealer for HERON®, JRC 3D Reconstructor® and EdgeWiseTM for the regions of Germany and Austria and we are looking forward to the common future in these markets.

Today, Mues Products & Moulds manufactures on around 3,000 m2 high-end tools primarily for the automotive, medical, and electronics industries, as well as ready-to-assemble plastic parts on state-of-the-art injection molding machines with clamping forces of up to 850 tons. Investing in a 3D Coordinate Measuring Machine has resulted in a comprehensive quality control process that enables Mues Products & Moulds to provide its customers with accurate initial sample inspection reports as well as process capability proofs. Of course, the 3D coordinate measuring machines can also be used to precisely measure components and to become "reverse engineered" with the know-how of the engineers!
In October 2018, Mues Products & Moulds and DUCTIM-X entered into a cooperation for reverse engineering, in particular of plastic parts.
